A Viajar:
How to Travel Around Andalucia

(Use the helpful stars on the map to locate the four provinces: Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga and Granada)
As you can see, these four provinces are relatively close enough where you can use several methods to get around:
  • Bus
  • Train
  • Car Rental
  • Plane

During my time in Spain, I ended up using all FOUR of these methods to get around from one time to another.

AUTOBUS: The cheapest means of travel, by far, is taking the autobus. There are many bus lines in southern Spain, links for which I will include below. Pricing usually ranges from 15-30 EUROS round trip. I almost always took the ALSA bus when traveling from Sevilla - where I lived - to Cordoba, as it was only an hour trip either way. ALSA is a national bus line similar to Greyhound in the United States, and is offered in most cities. There are other regional bus lines offered as well. Some cities, like Sevilla and Granada, have more than one bus station depending on the city that you plan to travel to, so make sure to read carefully through the links below regarding the information on each city's bus stations.

TRAIN: Of course, there are accessible train lines that run to all four provinces, should you enjoy getting a cozier seat and better view of your journey for a slightly more expensive price. Many local lines travel along RENFE, which frequently take trips to the different cities. Click HERE to view a map of the RENFE system for these provinces. (Make sure to visit the RENFE link below for more information on ticket prices!) The AVE line is a high-speed train system, which is a little more expensive but worth while if you plan to take a longer trip and venture north of Andalucia.

CAR RENTAL: If you do prefer to rent a car for your travels, many rental agencies are located at the local estacion del tren (train station) or aeropuerto (airport). Renting a car can get expensive, however, when you factor in the intial rental price, time that you will have the car, insurance and gas. Estimated price can cost between 100-200 EUROS, but may be more convenient for you if you prefer to travel at your own pace and want to be able to "get up and go" at your own convenience.

FLIGHT: Both Sevilla and Malaga have their own airports within the city limits, so you have more options with your method of travel. If you plan to fly domestically, there are great airlines that offer flights for low prices. Many flights can cost only 25-50 EUROS, taxes included! The catch with the cheap airlines is that to fly for such a low price, you are limited to a very small carry-on - much smaller than what Americans are used to carrying on. So make sure to read up on the baggage policies for each airline when you visit their websites below!

TRAVEL SIDE NOTE:

Once you actually get to each province, there are many ways to get around outside of walking. Each city offers local transportation services, such as the metro line, bus system or bicycle rentals.
